Make Sense of Numbers
We use common sense to solve math problems at school and in the real world. To do this we need to have a sense of numbers. Go to the link below and watch the video to review what we have learned about the number sense of place value. When you are done give three examples of situations where you would need to know place value to solve a problem in the real world. http://www.linkslearning.org/Kids/1_Math/2_Illustrated_Lessons/3_Place_Value/index.html

My family went on a trip and ran out of money we needed gas. so they said hi how may I help you? we need gas ok how much? 60.01 or 67.80. I needed a place value mat for it. When I went home my dad said feed your cat i said how much? no answer so it was either 10 scoops or 12 scoop?. Finally I said mom how long will we be? She said I dont know will we be 15miles or 27 miles?

The first example is that you can find decimals in stores. The next example is that you can find decimals on the cashrechester when it appears on it. Then the last example is that you can find decimals on your moms reciet. It is important to learn decimals because when you grow up you are going to have it all over the world and you are not going to know how to read a decimal.
